The Power of Partnerships, Support and Shared Experiences

As we look back on 2024, one thing stands out clearly – there’s immense power in partnerships, support, and shared experiences. Through collaboration with healthcare professionals (HCPs), patients, and advocacy groups, we’ve created resources that not only support individuals living with bowel conditions but also support HCPs through education.

Collaborating with Birmingham Children’s Hospital

It was especially rewarding to work with Birmingham Children’s Hospital this year, creating resources for healthcare professionals and the families they’re dedicated to supporting. These videos help show what it’s like to be the parent of a child who uses rectal irrigation, and we even had the privilege of hearing directly from the children themselves about how this has impacted their lives. Sharing these stories means we can give families hope and provide HCPs with tools to better understand and empathies with the unique challenges these patients and their families face.

Case Studies: Kim & Steve – new for 2024

Our ongoing commitment to sharing real-life experiences continued this year with powerful new case studies. Kim’s story showcases not only her experiences of living with bowel problems but also the added complexities of navigating this journey alongside her Alzheimer’s and what this is like for her husband, Steve. These narratives, along with those of PJ & Jack, the Qufora Twins, and Tony, highlight the diverse experiences of those managing bowel issues and the importance of raising awareness through their stories.

In an exciting new approach, we brought together an HCP and a patient in one of our recent case studies. This partnership offers a unique perspective on the relationship between the two, focusing on the collaborative journey of patient care. We can’t wait to share more about this case study soon and how it sheds light on the mutual support HCPs and patients provide each other.

Supporting Bowel Health at the Bladder & Bowel UK Coventry Event

This year, we were proud to continue our partnership with Bladder & Bowel UK by sponsoring their event in Coventry once again. Our goal was to create an educational learning space within the exhibition hall, where HCPs could expand their knowledge of bowel health and rectal irrigation. By creating these interactive spaces, we’re providing nurses and HCPs with valuable resources and insights to enhance the support they offer to their patients.

Complete Patient Care: Supporting Your Patients Every Step

Our Complete Patient Care approach ensures that your patients receive the best possible support right from the start. Our experienced nursing team works alongside you to provide hands-on care tailored to each patient’s needs. From teaching rectal irrigation to helping establish and manage routines, our nurses are there to support patients through every stage of their journey. With regular follow-ups and a focus on long-term success, we’re here to support you in giving your patients the best possible start.

Educational Events: Nurturing Patient-Centered Care

In addition to our nursing support, we offer educational in-person events across the country titled Nurturing Your Patient-Centered Care,” designed for healthcare professionals initiating rectal irrigation. These sessions explore three key areas:

  • Motivational skills
  • Psychological readiness
  • The online Decision Guide and My Irrigation Booklet

Feedback from our 2024 events has been overwhelmingly positive:

  • 99% of attendees found motivational skills relevant.
  • 98% plan to incorporate psychological readiness in clinic practice.
  • 82% will definitely use the Decision Guide, with 97% finding it beneficial.
  • 98% would recommend the events to colleagues.

Empowering Healthcare and Patients for 2025

Looking ahead, we’re committed to loading the toolboxes of HCPs and patients with even more resources and support. The partnerships and initiatives we’ve worked on this year have laid a solid foundation for what’s to come. Stay tuned for next month’s updates, where we may share an early look at what’s to come in 2025!

At the heart of all our projects is the belief that shared experiences and partnerships can create lasting change. On our website, you’ll find real stories and valuable resources that provide a beacon of support and knowledge for both patients and healthcare professionals. By fostering meaningful collaborations, we’re not only offering insights to drive better care but also reminding everyone that when navigating health journeys, knowing you’re not alone can make all the difference.
